Second Half Goal Lifts Women's Soccer to 1-0 Win

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team released an onslaught of shots on Saint Martin's University in Sunday's match. UMSL took 13 shots including eight on frame. A late second half goal broke the scoreless tie to give the Tritons the 1-0 shutout win.

UMSL (2-0) pushed the ball forward in the offensive end for most of the game. The SMU (0-2) keeper, Ali Campigotto, made seven saves in eight chances to keep the Saints in the game.

In the 79th minute, the Tritons were able to break through the Saint Martin's defense when Mia Milazzo settled a ball that ricocheted to the top of the box. Milazzo found Eylesa Kellam gunning down the left side of the box unmarked. With a lead pass, Kellam buried the shot inside the far post to give the Tritons the lead.

UMSL continued to pressure and keep possession in the offensive end to run out the remainder of regulation.

Paige Schwartz and Brynne Qualley combined in net for the shutout. The Triton defense allowed five shots with just one on frame.

The Tritons continue their home stand on Thursday, September 9th when they welcome Washburn University to the Don Dallas Soccer Complex for a non-conference match starting at 5 p.m.
