The UMSL Tritons men's basketball team watched a 12-point lead dissipate as the Rockhurst Hawks pulled off the 68-67 come-from-behind win Thursday in Kansas City.
The loss drops the Tritons to 12-5 overall and 6-4 in the GLVC. The Hawks improve to 8-11 overall.
Yaakema Rose, on the dribble penetration with 5 seconds remaining, was swarmed by the Hawks' defense as they prevented a clean look or passing lane as Rose heaved up a payer near the basket.
The Tritons led for the most of the game, owning leads of 11, 12 and nine-point leads, but efficiency at the line and the aforementioned stingy defense at crucial moments enabled the home Hawks to pull off the conference upset.
