ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The UMSL women are riding a hot hand of late.
On Saturday, the Tritons (8-1, 4-0) took to their court as they hosted Missouri S&T. The Tritons battled the press and even pressed a bit as they took care of business, besting the Miners 74-39.
Freshman
Jalysa Stokes keyed an early 3-pointer, and the Tritons were off and running as they extended their winning streak to eight games.
The Miners could not counter all that the Tritons tossed their way, as UMSL cruised to the 44-16 lead at halftime.
The Tritons led for all but 1:03 in the game, and they finished the GLVC tilt shooting 50 percent from the field, 46 percent from the perimeter, and 74 percent from the charity stripe.
A strong second quarter surged the team to the win column as they allowed a mere four points during the period.
Stokes and freshman counterpart
Mallory Ronshausen fired at will, as the two accounted for 32 points.
Kiara Stewart added 14 and
Alex LaPorta tossed in nine.
Faye Meissner finished with eight and
Shania Liburd had four.
McKenzie Lathrom added two, as did
Danielle Berry.
The women are at Lewis University next Thursday as they look to make it nine in a row.
