CHICAGO – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimming team wrapped up the Phoenix Fall Classic with eight top 10 finishes on Sunday evening in Chicago.
Zara Konstapel was the Tritons top finisher with a second place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.03.
Olivia Gawronski was 14th at 2:29.70,
Cheyanne Godleski took 16th in a time of 2:30.95 and
Amanda Hei finished 18th at 2:34.61.
UMSL's 400 free relay team of
Ava Boehning,
Stephanie Schoemans,
Sarah Nelson and
Kate Nelson finished third with a time of 3:29.08. The quartet of
Madison Bottorff,
Julia Gorska,
Isabella Gruidl and
Kristen Stalder was seventh at 3:35.70. The foursome of
Natalie Arthur,
Averi Meade,
Rebecca Bechtel and
Ashleigh Baros finished 16th in a time of 3:44.36 while the team of
Lily Franzen,
Brooklyn Messenger, Godleski and
Lizzie Bitner was 19th at 3:46.83.
In the 200 fly,
Mackenzie Greenley was seventh in a time of 2:09.65, Messenger finished 13th at 2:13.69,
Callie Clinton came in 17th at 2:16.89 and Bitner finished 19th with a time of 2:20.94.
Boehning was the Tritons top finisher in the 100 free at 52.86 seconds while
Stephanie Schoemans was ninth in a time of 52.96 seconds K. Nelson and S. Nelson finished back-to-back at 14th and 15th with times of 52.93 and 52.94 seconds respectively and Stalder was 17th at 53.55 seconds.
In the 1650 free, Bechtel took eighth at 17:56.60, Baros came in 16th in a time of 18:49.61 and Gruidl was 17th with a time of 18:52.31.
UMSL had three women finish in the top 20 of the 200 back. Messenger was ninth at 2:09.27,
Franziska Hauptmann came in 14th at 2:09.87 and Franzen finished 19th with a time of 2:11.49.
The Tritons return to the pool on Friday (Dec. 16) hosting Maryville and Quincy in a triangular at 5 p.m. at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
