UMSL men utilize strong second-half surge en route to GLVC win

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The Tritons appeared out of sorts to commence play against the Drury Panthers Friday evening at Chuck Smith Court.

And then came the second half, where head coach Bob Sundvold once again got the most out of his players as they outscored the Panthers 48-30 en route to the 80-62 win.

The win pushes Sundvold's team to 14-5 overall and 8-4 in the GLVC.

Marty Jackson was, well, Marty Jackson as he netted 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and one steal.

The tilt was knotted up at 32 at halftime, and the Tritons extended the lead to 40-36 five minutes into the contest.

Steve Webb came up with the steal and went coast-to-coast, igniting a spark from the bench at the 13:42 mark.

UMSL kept the foot on the gas, even when things became more than chippy -- emulating a mid-March contest.

The Tritons displayed better posessions and ball movement and took the momentum and ran to the win column, as they went up 54-47 with nine minutes remaining, before authoring a 21-8 run to pull the clock to 2:15.

UMSL is back on the hardwood tomorrow as SBU visits at 6 p.m.
