ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional by winning their first Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship. UMSL is the fifth seed in the Midwest.
Walsh University was selected as the top seed and the host of the Midwest Regional. The WU campus is located in North Canton, Ohio.
The Tritons will play the fourth seed, Truman State University. Truman State won both meetings with UMSL this season. The first game in Kirksville, Mo. finished with eight points in three second including a half-court shot to give the Bulldogs a 72-71 win. TSU won the second game in St. Louis, 79-72.
Walsh will play the eight seed, Davenport University who won the GLIAC Tournament as the eight seed.
The three seed Hillsdale College will face the six seed Cedarville University in the first round.
Ferris State University was named the two seed and will face the seven seed University of Findlay to start the tournament.
The Midwest Regional in North Canton, Ohio will start on Friday, Mar. 11.
