INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 25 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team won the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference championship on Sunday, defeating Indianapolis, 4-1, in the finals of medal/match play.

The top-seeded Tritons advanced to the championship match by defeating No. 4 seed McKendree, 3-2, this morning in the semifinals, while the No. 2 seeded Greyhounds defeated No. 3 seed Southern Indiana, 4-1, in the other semifinal. 

The GLVC championship is the program's third overall and first since 2016. UMSL also won in 2015 and has MIAA titles in in men's golf in 1992 and 1993. All three GLVC titles have been under the direction of head coach Troy Halterman. 

The win holds additional significance for the Tritons as it secures the GLVC's automatic postseason bid for the NCAA Tournament. UMSL, which was ranked No. 5 in the most recent NCAA Midwest Regional rankings, is now assured of its spot in the tournament field. The NCAA Midwest/Central Regional Tournament will run May 5-7 in Noblesville, Ind.
