ST. LOUIS, MO. - The No. 3 West Division University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team endured weather delays, pushing back the start time of their quarterfinal Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament match to 1 p.m. against No. 2 East Division McKendree University. McK won the match over UMSL 4-1.
The Bearcats won the top tdoubles match 6-0 and the No. 2 doubles match 6-3 to take the doubles point.
In singles play,
Jose Mayorga won No. 3 singles for the Tritons. Mayorga won set one 6-3 and completed the win with a second set 7-6 victory.
David Leon Mantilla defeated
AJ Bower in No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-1. Reddy Julappagari topped
Raphael Kerndl in No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-2. Kamden Boriss won the fourth point for McKendree over
Juan Vigil in No. 2 singles 6-2, 6-0.
Marcos Navas at No. 1 singles and
Karl Heinrichs at No. 5 singles did not finish their individual matches before the Bearcats claimed victory.
The Tritons ended their season with a 4-11 record including a 3-2 GLVC record.
