ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis had 11 teams recognized as recipients of the 2021-22 Team Academic All-GLVC Award, as announced by the league office.
The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year. In all, there were 176 men's and women's teams from across the league to earn the honor.
Those UMSL teams included women's golf (3.67), volleyball (3.65), men's tennis (3.65), men's golf (3.57), women's tennis (3.57), women's swimming (3.55), softball (3.47), women's track and field (3.45), women's basketball (3.41), women's cross country (3.38) and women's soccer (3.37).
The GLVC had 11 league members with 10 or more teams at or above a 3.30, which was just shy of the Conference-record 13 set in 2019-20 and matched last year. Maryville again had the highest number of sports meeting the distinguished 3.30 standard with 16, but it was just shy of its own Conference-best mark from 2019-20 and 2020-21 of 17.
Of the 173 honored programs, 122 came from women's sports and 51 from the men's side.
Four league sports – women's golf (13), women's soccer (15), women's swimming & diving (9), and volleyball (15) – saw all their teams above the 3.30 mark. Among the other notables, women's basketball (13), women's cross country (13), and softball (13) had all but two programs meet the threshold. women's tennis (12).
