ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 loss to Lewis in a GLVC quarterfinal contest at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill., on Sunday afternoon.

The Tritons, seeded fifth, held a 2-1 advantage in shots outshooting the host Flyers, seeded fourth, 18-9 but only had a slight edge in shots on goal with seven to Lewis' six.

The game was scoreless at the half with UMSL holding a 7-5 advantage in shorts including 4-3 in shots on goal.

The Flyers (9-5-5) scored the game's only goal in the 57th as Breanna Culver took a shot from the left edge of the penalty area and fired it across inside the right post for her fifth goal of the season.

The Tritons had a chance at the equalizer in the 60th minute after being awarded a free kick just at the edge of the penalty area but Kayley Judy's shot was blocked by the wall.

Judy had another chance four minutes later but once again her attempt was blocked. Jaycee Cotton had an opportunity in the 70th minute but her attempt missed high.

UMSL had multiple opportunities in the final 10 minutes of the contest taking five shots including two on frame but were unable to get anything past Bekah Nielsen.

Judy finished with six shots in the contest while Jada Holloman added five and Mary Kate Neal made five saves in goal.

The Tritons finish their season with a record of 8-6-3 including 7-4-1 in the GLVC.
