ST. LOUIS – Justice Beard and
Conley Savage won two events each to lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis swimming teams in competition at Washington University in St. Louis on Friday evening at Millstone Pool on the campus of Washington University.
The UMSL men fell to the Bears 130-75, while the Triton women were defeated by Wash U 175-62.
Savage captured the 100 fly (51.07) and 200 individual medley (1:52.88).
Hendrik Bechtel touched first in the 1,000 free (9:43.57),
Dylan Bonnett won the 100 breast (59.37) and the 200 free relay squad of
Guillem Masjuan Roca,
Mason Stimson,
Ethan Boehle and
David Reynolds took the top spot in a time of 1:25.35.
Beard touched first in the 1,000 free (10:29.60) and 500 free (5:09.90) and was joined on the winner's podium by the 200 free relay team of
Kate Nelson,
Madison Bottorff,
Kelsey Roth and
Audrey Lantz at 1:37.38.
UMSL claimed five runner-up finishes, three by the women and two for the men.
Roth led that group, finishing second in the 200 free (1:57.47) and 100 free (54.63). A. Lantz was the runner-up in the 50 free (24.89).
Reynolds came in second in the 50 free (21.80) and
Aaron Wicklund was the runner-up in the 500 free (4:46.02).
The Tritons are back in action next Friday (Jan. 19) taking on McKendree at 2 p.m. at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex in Lebanon, Ill.
