ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the GLVC tournament with a 2-0 win at Rockhurst on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City. It's the third time in the last four years that the Tritons have advanced to the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
Kayley Judy opened the scoring for UMSL (13-3-2), seeded fifth, in the 31st minute. Having subbed in only two minutes earlier,
Adelaide Green found Judy who sent her bicycle kick shot into the top right of the goal to put the Tritons up 1-0.
UMSL's defense prevented Rockhurst (12-6-1), seeded fourth, from having a shot on goal until the final minute of the first half. Lucy Molitor's shot to the lower left was saved by
Mary Kate Neal to keep the Tritons on top.
It was Judy again in the 83rd minute to double the Tritons lead.
Natalie Scott found Judy with a cross into the box and Judy finished to the lower left to make it 2-0 with seven minutes left.
Neal's shutout is the Tritons sixth in a row and her ninth of the season. She also moves into a tie for fourth for shutouts in a single season, sharing fourth with Kim Clack. Neal made four saves against the Hawks to preserve the shutout.
The Tritons outshot Rockhurst 16-8 with seven of UMSL's shots being on goal compared to only four for the Hawks.
The Tritons will take on top seeded Maryville (15-0-2) this Thursday (Nov. 14) in the GLVC Quarterfinals at 7 p.m. at Creve Coeur Soccer Park.
