ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team began its five-game homestand with an 11-1 victory in seven innings over Harris-Stowe on Tuesday at the UMSL Baseball Field. The Tritons improve 24-14 while the Hornets drop to 1-25.
UMSL jumped on top with a run in its half of the first.
Dane Stevenson led off the game with a single to center and stole second.
Bryce Kulinski followed with a walk and then Stevenson and Kulinski pulled off a double steal of second and third.
Logan McIntyre brought home Stevenson with a fielder's choice to short as Kulinski was thrown out trying to advance to third on the play.
The Tritons added three more in the second highlighted by
Mitchell Green's two-run single to center scoring Stevenson and McIntyre.
UMSL hung a four-spot in the fourth. Kulinski brought home
Jordan Aguallo with a single to left and then McIntyre hit a double down the left field line scoring Stevenson. Green and
Zach Beatty hit back-to-back sacrifice flies to right to make it 8-0.
Harris-Stowe got on the board with an unearned run in the sixth as Tyson Dent reached on a throwing error and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
The Tritons got that run back in the bottom of the sixth as Green hit a long home run to left for his fourth of the season to make it 9-1.
UMSL walked it off with one out in the seventh.
Cameron Hailstone was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and scored on Aguallo's two-run home run to left.
Jack Rhodes got the start on the mound for the Tritons giving up the unearned run in the sixth on four hits and three strikeouts to pick up his first win of the season.
Ryan Berry pitched a scoreless seventh.
UMSL had nine hits in the contest and was led by Stevenson, Green and Aguallo with two apiece.
The Tritons continue their five-game homestand on Friday hosting McKendree at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Baseball Field.
