SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team was knocked out of the 2024 GLVC Tournament on Friday with a 4-0 loss to No. 24 ranked Drury in quarterfinal action at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
The Tritons took the first doubles contest as their number two team of
Jose Mayorga and
Joshua Mackey defeated Marion Wilken and Lukas Rieber 6-2 but the Panthers (15-3) won the next two doubles matches as their number one team of Jesus Gonzalez and Sylvain Michaud beat
Raphael Kerndl and
Juan Vigil 6-1 and the number three team of Yaroslav Sharyy and Mark Drozdetskii defeated
Marcos Navas and
Tanin Ramnath 6-2.
Drury won the first three singles contests to clinch the match as Wilken beat Vigil in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. In the second singles match it Michaud besting Kerndl 6-3, 6-3 and Sharyy won over Mayorga 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
UMSL finishes its season with a record of 9-12 including 2-3 in GLVC play.
