ST. LOUIS – Five University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators 2024 Academic All-District team that was announced Tuesday.
Representing the Tritons are
Trent Anderson,
Andrew Buescher,
Zach Haygood,
Barrett Rose and
Braedon Stoakes.
Anderson, a physical education major, has a 3.56 cumulative GPA. He led the team with 20 appearances and was 3-1 with a 2.17 earned run average and led the team with seven saves. His seven saves were tied for seventh most in a single season in school history and was third best in the GLVC this season. Anderson was a Second Team All-GLVC selection this season.
Buescher, a business administration major, has a 3.71 cumulative GPA. He led the Tritons with 12 home runs and 59 RBI and hit .333 for the season. His 59 RBI are the most in a single season in school history while his 12 home runs were third most in a single season in school history and his 109 total bases are tied for eighth best in a single season. Buescher was a First Team All-GLVC selection this season.
Haygood, a business administration major, has a 3.66 cumulative GPA. He led the pitching staff with a 7-2 record and had a 3.59 ERA. Haygood made 13 appearances on the mound with nine starts, threw three complete games and one complete game shutout. In 62.2 innings he pitched he struck out 50 batters and opponents hit .249 against him. He was a Second Team All-GLVC selection this season.
Rose, a sport management major, has a 3.84 cumulative GPA. He was second on the team with 11 home runs, 50 RBI and a .380 batting average. His 11 home runs are tied for fourth most in a single season in school history while his 50 RBI are tied for 10th best in a single season. His on base plus slugging percentage of 1.159 was the highest on the team this season. Rose was a Second Team All-GLVC selection.
Stoakes, an educational studies major with an emphasis in exercise science and wellness, has a 3.56 cumulative GPA. He led the Tritons with a .417 batting average and his OPS of 1.152 was second on the team to Rose. Stoakes finished the season with 65 hits and tied the school's single season record with nine triples. His .686 slugging percentage is ninth best in a single season in school history. Stoakes was a First Team All-GLVC selection.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have appeared in at least 90 percent of a team's games or started at least 66 percent of the team's games. For pitchers, they must have made 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. They must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
The 2024 Academic All-America team for baseball will be announced on Tuesday, July 2.
