JACKSON, Tenn. – The sixth ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team swept Harding and Limestone on the final day of the Union Volleyball Classic on Saturday in Jackson, Tenn. It was a tale of two matches for the Tritons on Saturday.

In UMSL's (4-0) first match of the day it had to rally from slow starts in each set of its straight win over the Lady Bisons (1-2).
Harding jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the opening stanza but the Tritons rallied tying the game at 21 after an attack error from Maegan Lacy. UMSL took its first lead of the match after a kill from
Addison Voorhees and then
Caitlin Bishop served an ace to extend the lead. Lacy brought the Lady Bisons back to within 23-22 with a kill but
Alayna Santel and
Hannah Copeland teamed up to block Lacy to give the Tritons two set points to work with. A bad set by Payton Hilmer gave UMSL the 25-22 set win.
The middle frame went back-and-forth early with Harding jumping out to a four-point lead but the Tritons rallied to take an 8-7 lead on an ace from
Rylee Edson. The lead was short lived as the Lady Bisons used a 6-1 run to regain its four-point lead. UMSL chipped away tying the set at 15 on a block by Santel and
Iyannah Jackson. The two sides continued exchanging points and were tied at 22 when the Trtions took advantage of three straight Harding errors to win the stanza 25-22.
UMSL fell behind 7-1 to start the final frame before scoring 10 of the next 15 points to pull within 12-11. The Lady Bisons stretched their lead back to three but the Tritons finished the match on a 12-3 run as Voorhees and
Maggie Johnson had three kills apiece in the deciding run to complete the sweep.
UMSL hit .176 in the match with 42 kills against 19 errors in 131 swings. Jackson led the way for the Tritons with 12 kills. Bishop added 37 assists and
Skylar Weaver recorded a career-high 21 digs. Edson had four of the team's eight aces.
Harding had an attack percentage of .154 with 37 kills against 17 errors in 130 chances. Skyler McKinnon led the Lady Bisons with 17 kills. Olivia Wiedower had 25 assists and Tatum Fouce added 11 digs.

In UMSL's second match of the day, it never trailed at any point. The Tritons led by as many as nine points in the opening stanza on their way to a 25-18 set victory. In the middle frame, UMSL led by as many as 11 in a 25-15 victory and in the final frame it led by as many as 12 in the 25-13 victory.
The Tritons hit .432 in the match with 46 kills against eight errors in 88 attempts. Santel led the way with a match-high 14 kills while Johnson added eight kills and
Brooklyn Young and
Hannah Copeland finished with seven kills apiece. Bishop handed out 39 assists and moved past 3,000 for her career. Weaver finished with nine digs. Copeland also had four blocks.
UMSL's defense held the Saints (1-2) to a .113 attack percentage with 25 kills against 16 errors in 80 swings. Tatum Riddle and Mia McMillen had seven kills each for Limestone. Jenna Szabelski had 12 assists and McMillen led the way with six digs.
The Tritons travel to Denver, Colo., next weekend to compete in the Colorado Premiere Challenge co-hosted by Regis University and Metropolitan State University of Denver. UMSL will take on third ranked West Texas A&M at 11 a.m. (CDT) and 13th ranked Regis at 6 p.m. (CDT) in its two pool matches at Regis Field House.
