ROLLA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team defeated Missouri S&T 72-61 for its fourth straight win at Gibson Arena in Rolla, Mo., on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons improve to 13-3,7-2 GLVC while the Miners are 9-4, 4-3 GLVC.
It was a tightly contested first quarter with both teams trading opportunities.
Kate Rolfes opened the game making a three-point attempt before S&T and UMSL traded two quick layups back to back.

The Miners took the lead with just under four minutes left in the first thanks to a three-point make by Anna Finley.

But
Alex Wolff scored two quick jump shots to give the Tritons by the end of the quarter.

UMSL started the second quarter with a run of eight points from four different players. It took Missouri S&T nearly four minutes to score their first basket of the second quarter.

Audrey Martinez-Stewart hit a jump shot at the buzzer to give the Tritons ten-point lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

The Miners started the third quarter by making two three-point shots to cut the lead to four, before Wolff got the Tritons on the board just under three minutes into the quarter.

A combination of fouls and S&T making their shots pulled the Miners within a point of the Tritons midway through the third quarter.

Katie Hamill hit a jump shot and
Emerson Weller added a layup of her own to give UMSL some momentum to extend the lead to five.

UMSL and the Miners baskets in the fourth quarter, with UMSL pulling away thanks to Rolfes and Martinez-Stewart each making a three-pointer.
Mara Rieder also had four points during the key stretch.

With time winding down, the Tritons made their free-throws to maintain the lead and put the game out of reach for S&T.

Hamill lead the UMSL with 16 points and two rebounds, both defensive. Rolfes was next with 15 points, shooting 50% from the three-point arc.
Morgan Ramthun had a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

The Tritons shot 50 percent (26-for-52) from the field including 4-of-10 from the three-point arc and shot 89 percent (16-for-18) from the free-throw line.

The Miners shot 36 percent (21-for-58) from the floor, were 4-of-14 from the three-point arc and shot 94 percent (15-16) at the foul line. Anna Finley had 20 points, five rebounds, and three steals on the night. Katelynne Roberts had 16 points along with seven rebounds.

The Tritons continue their four-game road trip on Monday traveling to Quincy, Ill., to take on the Hawks at 4 p.m. at Pepsi Arena.
