Story Links

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team shot a season-high 55 percent from beyond the three-point line in its 91-66 win over Maryville inside Moloney Arena on Thursday evening. The Tritons improve to 9-9, 7-4 GLVC while the Saints fall to 7-12, 3-8 GLVC.

UMSL set single game-highs for scoring (91 points), field goals made (35), three-point field goals made (16) field goal percentage (59.3 percent) and assists (26). The 91 points scored were the most the Tritons scored in a game since defeating Rockhurst 92-58 in the quarterfinal round of the GLVC Tournament on March 3, 2023.

The Tritons had seven different players score in the contest with five finishing in double figures led by Quenton Parker with a game and career-high 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting including five treys. Troy Glover II finished with 17 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots, Savon Wykle dropped home 15 more and Emanuel Prospere II and Janeir Harris added 12 points each. Prospere also added nine assists and five rebounds in the win.

UMSL led virtually the entire game and were up by as many as seven in the first half after a three by Wykle with 10:36 remaining in the stanza. Maryville rallied to tie the game at 27 but the Tritons finished the half on a 15-8 run to take a 42-35 lead into the locker room at the break.

The Saints scored on their first possession of the second half to draw within five before UMSL pulled away thanks to a 19-8 run spanning nearly seven minutes. Wykle had six points in that run with Glover adding five more.

The Triton lead grew to as many as 27 with less than a minute to go after Parker's fifth three of the night.

The game also set what is believed to be an NCAA record with only one foul called in the first half and that was a flagrant foul called on UMSL. There were no personal fouls whistled in the first half and only 11 total fouls called in the contest.

The Tritons finished the game going 35-for-59 from the field, including 16-of-29 from three and shot 71 percent at the foul line. They outrebounded Maryville 38-to-27.

The Saints were held to 41 percent (26-for-64) shooting in the contest but were 9-of-30 from three and shot 63 percent at the foul line. Luke Williams led Maryville in scoring with 15 points.

UMSL is back at home next Thursday hosting Illinois Springfield at 7:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building. Next Thursday's game is the Red Out game with everyone encouraged to wear red.
