ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team completed its weekend road trip with a 3-0 win over Lewis at Lewis Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The win improves the Tritons to 8-3-2, 7-1-2 GLVC while the Flyers drop to 6-2-5, 5-2-3 GLVC.
Maddie Clark got UMSL on the board in the 25
th minute.
Karley Kinzinger sent a ball across the face of the goal that couldn't be cleanly dealt with by the Lewis defenders. Clark ran onto the ball, slotting it past the keeper for her second goal of the season.
The Tritons doubled their lead in the 63
rd minute when
Josie Maddox slipped a ball between the Lewis goalkeeper and the near post.
Avery Hesseldenz won the ball on a Flyers goal kick before Clark had slipped a through ball between two defenders to set Maddox up one-on-one with the keeper.
Natalie Scott added a set piece header goal in the 74
th minute, heading home a free kick by
Gwen Maggard.
Maddox led UMSL with two shots, both on frame.
Ella Anselm had two shots as well, putting one on net.
Rylee Griffith made five saves in goal for her seventh shutout of the season.
The Tritons return to Don Dallas Field for a two-game home stand this Friday (Oct. 24) hosting Upper Iowa at 12:30 p.m. It'll be UMSL's final homestand of the regular season.
