ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six with a 1-1 draw at No. 16 Maryville on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons are 5-2-2, 4-0-2 GLVC while the Saints are 6-0-4, 4-0-3 GLVC.
Maryville struck first, scoring in the third minute. Allison Estanich took advantage of space in the box, finishing her chance into the upper left netting. Elsa Nilson-Hurtig found Helene Braren to start the play, with both players receiving assists on the play.
The Saints Nilson-Hurtig took a second yellow in the 50
th minute, leaving Maryville down a player for the remainder of the game.
UMSL scored the equalizer in the 63
rd minute as
Gwen Maggard converted a penalty kick. Maggard sent the keeper the wrong way, slotting the ball into the lower right corner for her second goal of the season.
Josie Maddox and Maggard led the Tritons with three shots a piece. Maggard landed two of her three shots on frame.
Rylee Griffith made one save in the contest.
The Tritons return home on Friday (Oct. 10) to face McKendree (6-0-4, 6-0-1 GLVC) at 5 p.m. at Don Dallas Field.
