LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Missouri-St. Louis rightside hitter
Alayna Santel added another accolade to her resume, being named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DII National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Santel is the third player in program history and second this season to earn the honor. She joins Kaileen Herman who received the honor in the Spring 2021 season and
Iyannah Jackson wo won the honor three weeks ago.
Santel was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 5.85 points and 5.29 kills per set while hitting .346 in seven sets played. She had a match-high 21 kills in the win over Rockhurst on Saturday to help the Tritons clinch the GLVC's regular season title.
UMSL is back in action this weekend traveling to Williamsville, Ill., for the GLVC Tournament at the Williamsville High School Fieldhouse. The Tritons will take on eighth seeded Lewis in their opening round contest at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
