ST. LOUIS – For the second time in three years the No. 22 University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team has been selected as the top seed and will host the NCAA Midwest Region Tournament as announced on the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Selection Show on Monday night. The Tritons will face eighth-seeded UIndy in the quarterfinal on Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m.

UMSL, who was ranked first in each of the last two Region Rankings, climbed three spots in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 poll.

The Tritons have made it into the NCAA Tournament field nine times including six straight under head coach Ryan Young. UMSL has won the Midwest Regional championship twice in the past three seasons and advanced to the national semifinals both years.

The tournament field is comprised of four teams from the GLVC, two from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and two from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The Tritons, who won their first GLVC title yesterday, is joined in the field by Quincy, the GLVC runner-up, as the number six seed, Rockhurst is in as the seventh seed and UIndy will be the eight seed. UMSL received the conference's automatic bid while Quincy, Rockhurst and UIndy all earned at-large bids.

Ohio Dominican, the G-MAC Tournament champion, earned the second seed while fifth-seeded Findlay earned an at-large selection. Ferris State will be the three seed and GLIAC Tournament champion Wayne State is the number four seed.

UMSL and the Greyhounds will meet for the third time this season with UMSL winning the first two matches in four sets.
