ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team cruised to a 76-49 senior day win over Upper Iowa on Chuck Smith Court at the Mark Twain Building on Saturday afternoon. The Tritons improve to 18-6, 12-5 GLVC while the Peacocks drop to 11-12, 8-9 GLVC.

UMSL honored its seniors:
Aalia Carlson, Brooke Woodyard, Kate Rolfes and
Audrey Martinez-Stewart prior to the start of the game.

Carlson and Woodyard got the Tritons combining to score the team's first 10 points of the contest. Carlson started the game off with a layup and Woodyard added a free throw and scored a layup on the next play. Carlson finished with 11 points in the first quarter.

Alex Wolff and
Katie Hamill provided support to the seniors, with Wolff hitting a mid-quarter layup and Hamill scoring both her free-throws to extend UMSL's lead.

Mara Rieder had the first four points for the Tritons in the second quarter, helping to hold off an Upper Iowa bid for momentum.

UMSL's defense kept the Peacocks off the board for the final 8:40 of the second quarter. Ava Privet's three point-shot that cut the Tritons lead to three was the Peacocks last basket of the stanza. Meanwhile, UMSL scored the final 18 points of the frame to take a 38-17 lead into halftime.

The seniors once again got the Tritons going to start the third quarter. Martinez-Stewart scored five points to start, with a layup and then a three-point shot. Rolfes added to the senior total with two layups before Carlson and Rolfes traded jump shots.

Upper Iowa went on a run to close out the third quarter, scoring eight points to cut UMSL's lead to 53-32, but
Morgan Ramthun hit a free throw to get the Tritons back on the board heading into the fourth quarter.

The Tritons and Peacocks traded chances in the fourth quarter with both teams having mini runs throughout the quarter.
Anna Costa Riera hit a three-point shot with just over a minute left and
Abby Peterson added a layup with eight seconds left for the game's final margin.

UMSL shot 45 percent (32-for-71) from the field, was 4-of-18 from the three-point arc and shot 67 percent from the free throw line. Rolfes led the Tritons with 14 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Carlson scored an UMSL career-high 13 points and Ramthun rounded it out with 11 points and nine rebounds.

Upper Iowa was held 33 percent (18-for-54) from the field, was 4-of-13 from the three-point line and shot 75 percent from the free-throw line. Mia Huberty and Lindsey Davis led Upper Iowa with 12 points each. Huberty had one steal and Davis one steal and three rebounds to round out their afternoons.

The Tritons begin their final road trip of the regular season next Thursday heading to Liberty, Mo., to take on William Jewell at 5:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
