SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team dropped a hard fought GLVC semifinal contest to No. 43 Rockhurst 4-3 on Saturday at Sacred Heart Griffin High School in Springfield, Ill.
The Tritons won the first doubles match as its number three doubles team of
Henry Roberts and
Joan Garros defeated Arnav Gannavaram and Alex Tikhonov 6-2 but the Hawks won the final two doubles matches to win the opening point of the match.
Rockhurst extended its lead to 3-0 getting wins in the first two singles contest but UMSL rallied winning the next three matches to even the match at 3-3.
Percy Siercke started the comeback rallying for a 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) win over Creed Skinner at No. 3 singles.
Daniel Berdecio knocked off Tikhonov 7-6 (8-6), 3-6, 6-2 in the fourth singles contest and Roberts beat Schtulmann 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to square the match.
It came down to No. 6 singles. Garros won the first set of his match against Dylan Rainwater 6-2 but Rainwater rallied winning the last two sets 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the win for the Hawks.
UMSL finishes its season with a record of 12-8.
