ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team swept past Missouri Baptist 7-0 on Friday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
The Tritons improve to 1-0 while the Spartans drop to 0-1.
UMSL won all three doubles matches to clinch the first point of the dual. The Tritons No. 1 duo of
Hannah Tse and
Millie Wileman outlasted Yvonne Shannon and Melissa Jangarasheva in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4),
Aleksandra Lopez and
Mogan Lint blanked Lucia Rubio and Mariana Azevedo 6-0 and
Anna Favaron and
Alexandra Cedeno defeated Jocelynn Carmody and Bissola Lassissi 6-1.
In singles play it was Tse beating Shannon in straight sets 6-0, 6-1, Lopez swept Rubio 6-0, 6-4, Wileman handed Carmody a 6-3, 6-3 defeat, Lint swept Jangarasheva 6-0, 6-2, Favaron beat Lassissi 6-3, 6-0 and
Giuliana Cunza blanked Azevedo 6-0, 6-0.
UMSL is back in in action on Saturday competing at the Southeast Missouri State Redhawk Fall Tournament at the John C. Bierk Redhawks Tennis Complex in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
