ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball cruised to a 92-45 victory against Lincoln on Saturday afternoon at the Mark Twain Building. The win is the seventh straight for the Tritons as they improve to 14-2, 10-0 GLVC while the Blue Tigers drop to 4-12, 2-7 GLVC.
The 92 points scored for UMSL were its most in a game since a 97-77 win over Illinois Springfield nearly three years ago.
The Tritons had three players top the 20-point mark in the contest led by
Mara Rieder with 27 points while
Morgan Ramthun and
Jayden Kuper both had career-highs in scoring with 26 and 22 points respectively. Ramthun also recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 12 rebounds while Kuper recorded her second double-double of the year adding 12 rebounds.
UMSL opened the game on a 14-2 run as it lead for over 39 minutes in the contest. It shot 55 percent from the floor in the opening stanza and was led by Ramthun with 10 points. Rieder and Kuper added four points each.
The trio of Kuper, Rieder and Ramthun combined for 19 of the Tritons 23 points in the second quarter as UMSL extended its lead to 26 at the intermission.
The two sides were even in the third quarter with 16 points each as Ramthun scored nearly half of the Tritons points in the frame.
UMSL dominated the final quarter outscoring Lincoln 29-8 with Rieder shouldering the load with 13 points while Kuper and
Jaeda Wilson added five points each.
The Tritons finished the game shooting a season-high 52 percent with a season-high of 35 field goals from the field. They were 4-of-14 from three and shot 86 percent at the charity stripe. UMSL outrebounded the Blue Tigers 45-to-27 and scored 22 points off 18 Lincoln turnovers.
The Blue Tigers were held to 28 percent (14-for-50) shooting from the floor but were 6-of-18 from three and shot 61 percent at the foul line. Taelyn Smith and Kiara Cabrera had eight points apiece to lead Lincoln.
The Tritons conclude their three-game homestand next Saturday hosting Maryville at 1 p.m. on Chuck Smith Court at the Mark Twain Building.
