St. Louis – University of Missouri–St. Louis Athletics celebrated another outstanding semester in the classroom as 178 Triton student-athletes – 71 percent of the department – earned a 3.25 grade-point average or higher during the Spring 2026 semester.  The student-athletes were recently honored at the halftime of women's soccer game.

The individual accomplishments were part of another exceptional academic year for the Tritons. UMSL Athletics posted a 3.562 department GPA during the spring semester and finished the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.572 overall GPA.

Perhaps most notably, every UMSL athletic team finished the academic year with a team GPA above 3.24 – the first time in department history that every program has reached that mark.
Spring 2026 also marked the fourth consecutive year that every UMSL team has maintained an overall GPA above 3.0, demonstrating the department's continued commitment to academic achievement and student success.

"Having 71 percent of our student-athletes earn at least a 3.25 GPA is an accomplishment we are incredibly proud to celebrate," UMSL Executive Director of Athletics Dr. Holly Sheilley said. "Our student-athletes dedicate an extraordinary amount of time to representing UMSL in competition while balancing the expectations and demands of their academic programs. Their ability to consistently excel in both areas speaks to their commitment, discipline and determination.

"These results are also a reflection of the tremendous support our student-athletes receive from our coaches, staff, faculty and the entire UMSL community. Academic success is central to our mission and seeing every one of our teams achieve at this level is something our entire department should be proud of."

UMSL Volleyball recorded the department's highest team GPA of the Spring 2026 semester with an impressive 3.842 GPA.

UMSL Women's Basketball earned the distinction of posting the department's highest overall team GPA for the entire 2025-26 academic year at 3.828.

The accomplishments continue a strong tradition of academic success within Triton Athletics and reinforce the department's commitment to developing student-athletes who excel in competition, in the classroom and throughout the UMSL community.
