Mayan Covarrubias shot a 36-hole total score of 138 (66-72) and is in first place after the Beall Fall Classic at the Findlay Country Club on Monday. As a team the Tritons are in third place with a total team score of 606 (301-305).
Covarrubias had eight birdies in her opening round as her score of 66 is tied for fourth lowest in school history for 18 holes. She was four over par through eight holes in round two but finished strong with four birdies in her final 10 holes to finish her round at even par. Her score of 138 is fifth lowest in school history for 36 holes.
Hillary Currier is tied for 22nd overall with a score of 154 (76-78) while
Emmy Wahl, competing as an individual, is tied for 28th at 155 (78-77).
Sarah Cuney posted a score of 156 (79-77) while
Alaina Ervin and
Hope Williams each shot scores of 160. Ervin had consecutive rounds of 80 while Williams shot an 82 in the morning round and a 78 in the afternoon session.
Covarrubias holds a five-shot lead over Findlay's Ellie Yeazell heading into Tuesday's final round. The Oilers are the team leaders through 36 holes with a total team score of 592 (297-295) and are eight shots ahead of second place Grand Valley State.
The final round of the Beall Fall Classic tees off at 8 a.m. (CDT) on Tuesday.
