QUINCY, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team fell to Quincy, 4-0 at the Quincy Racquet Club in Quincy, Ill., on Friday afternoon. The Tritons drop to 1-4 on the season while the Hawks improve to 5-2.
Quincy took the opening point of the dual winning two of the three doubles contests. It's number one team of Inigo Villacampa and Enrique Dolan defeated
Percy Siercke and
Tommy Griese 6-4. UMSL's number two doubles team of
Tanin Ramnath and
Daniel Berdecio evened the doubles competition with a 6-2 win over Cristobal Tellez and Gerard Abad Puig 6-4. The Hawks won the finals doubles contest as Gael Castro and David Eusamio beat
Andrea Ricart and
Joan Garros 7-5.
Quincy won all three of the singles contests that were finished as Villacampa swept Griese 6-1, 6-4, Siercke fell to Doldan in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 and Ricart lost to Abad Puig 6-2, 6-0.
Henry Roberts led his match 7-5, 4-0 when the match was clinched for the Hawks.
The Tritons are back in action on Saturday (February 28) hosting Southern Indiana at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
