MARION, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team snapped its eight-game losing streak with a 12-4 win in five innings over Ferris State on Saturday afternoon at the Oasis Sports Complex in Marion, Ill. The Tritons (5-12) dropped their second game of the day to Grand Valley State (5-4) 10-2 in five innings.
Game 1 – UMSL 12 FSU 4 (5 innings)
The Bulldogs (8-8) jumped on top in the first inning on a two-out home run to left center off the bat of Ava Gardner.
UMSL rallied in the home half of the third sending 15 batters to the plate scoring 10 runs on 11 hits and an error.

Gracie Philpot each drove in two runs in the frame while
Rylie Buchanan and
Jamie Widule each had an RBI in the inning.
FSU scored three runs in the fourth with two coming on an RBI double from Jayden Marlatt and a single from Brenna George.
The Tritons' final two runs came in the fourth on a throwing error allowing
Madison Rozanski and
Kodi VanEycke to score the final runs.
UMSL outhit the Bulldogs 14-5 in the contest and was led by Sullivan, Pasqualini, Philpot,
Kaytie Kossina, Buckberger, Buchanan and Rozanski with two apiece.
Ashley Ware picked up the win holding the Bulldogs to one run on one hit in three innings pitched. She improves to 2-0 on the season.
Game 2 – GVSU 10 UMSL 2 (5 innings)
In the Tritons second game of the afternoon, they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second thanks to a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt which VanEycke.
Phoebe Miller drove in the second run with a groundout to short.
The Lakers scored three times in the third highlighted by a two-run double from Elizabeth Wesoloski and an RBI groundout from Maryjane Goodman.
GVSU added two more in the fourth on a two-run from Wesoloski and then broke it open in the fifth scoring five runs on three hits for the run-rule victory.
UMSL finished with four hits in the contest led by Pasqualini and Kossina with two apiece.
Ashley Borowitz took the loss giving up five runs, three earned, on nine hits with a walk and a strikeout.
The Tritons conclude play in the Oasis DII Collegiate Classic on Sunday afternoon against Parkside at 1:30 p.m. at the Oasis Sports Complex in Marion, Ill.
