EDMOND, Okla. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team fell to Emporia State 10-0 in seven innings on Friday in the Edmond First Pitch Classic at Wendell Simmons Field on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma. The Tritons drop to 0-2 while the Hornets improve to 6-0.
Emporia Scored the first run of the game with one out in the top of the first. Brady Unrein grounded out to second scoring Logan Myers from third. The Hornets added two more runs in the third as Unrein tripled to right center scoring Noah Steele and Dylan Brisbois hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring home Unrein.
ESU added five more in the fifth and two more in the sixth for the final margin.
UMSL was held to two hits in the contest with
LJ Randle hitting a two-out single in the third and
Mitch Bonczkowski tripled to right leading off the seventh.
Dustin Hagens took the loss giving up three runs on three hits with five strikeouts and six walks in four innings pitched.
The Tritons conclude play in the Edmond First Pitch Classic taking on the host Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Saturday at 1 p.m.
