SHAWNEE, Okla. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team fell to Oklahoma Baptist 2-1 in 10 innings on Sunday afternoon at Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park in Shawnee, Okla. The Tritons drop to 1-3 while the Bison improve to 1-2.
OBU took the lead with a run in the third. With one out and runners on the corner, Quinn Johnson hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Jacob Campbell.
UMSL tied the game in the fourth on
Mitch Bonczkowski's second home run of the season to lead off the inning. It was the second straight day that Bonczkowski homered.
The game remained tied until the bottom of the 10th. With one out, Lucas Schaefer reached on an infield single to short and scored on Johnson's two-out double down the left field line.
The Tritons outhit the Bison 8-6 in the contest and were led by Bonczkowski with two hits.
Will O'Gorman, making his UMSL debut, got the start and went the first seven innings giving up one run on four hits with seven strikeouts against one walk.
Trey Schneider went the final 2.2 innings giving up a run on two hits with a pair of punchouts to take the loss and fall to 0-1.
UMSL and OBU conclude their two-game series on Monday at 1 p.m. at Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park in Shawnee, Okla.
