ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team opened the Spring portion of its schedule with a 5-2 loss to Division I Saint Louis University on Saturday (Feb. 7) at the Missouri Athletic Club West in St. Louis.
The Tritons (1-3) got a doubles win from their number one team of
Percy Siercke and
Tommy Griese as they defeated Sacha Lefebure and Adrien Ducruet 6-1 but the Billikens (1-5) won the final two doubles matches to win the opening point of the contest.
UMSL got singles wins from Griese at No. 2 singles as he beat Declan Townsend in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 and
Tanin Ramnath knocked off Valentin Vasquez in the number five singles match 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
The Tritons are back in action this Friday (Feb. 13) as they travel to Quincy, Ill., to take on the Hawks at the Quincy Racquet Club at 2 p.m.
