EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimming team picked up some more All-American accolades on Thursday on the third day of the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming Diving Championships at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville, Ind.
Justice Beard earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 freestyle while the 400-yard medley relay squad of
Ella Lantz,
Uxue Ortiz de Pinedo,
Audrey Lantz and
Romina Itzkovich snagged honorable mention All-America accolades.
Beard swam out of lane three in the consolation final of the 200 free finishing 16th with a time of 1:51.16.
The 400-medley relay squad finished second in its heat and 16th overall at 3:49.00. E. Lantz swam the opening leg in a time of 55.49 and was followed by Ortiz de Pinedo who posted a split of 1:05.13. A. Lantz had a split of 55.89 in the fly portion and Itzkovich swam the anchor leg in a time of 52.49.
A. Lantz swam in the morning preliminary race of the 100 fly finishing 30th in a time of 56.45 seconds.
Aaron Wicklund won the first of four heats in the prelims of the 400 individual medley and finished 19th in the event with a time of 3:56.54.
The Triton women are in 16th place with 25 points through the first three days of the championship meet.
UMSL will have two swimmers competing on Friday as Beard will swim in the 500 free and E. Lantz will swim in the 100 back.
Friday's schedule also includes the 100 breast stroke and 200 fly prelims starting at 10 a.m. The finals for all four of those events will start at 5:30 p.m. and will also include the 200-yard freestyle relay final at the Deaconess Aquatic Center.
