SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball season came to an with a 14-11 loss to UIndy on Saturday afternoon at the UIS Baseball Field in Springfield, Ill.
The Greyhounds (34-22), seeded seventh, scored two runs on three hits in the first inning. Gavin Duran and Brayton Bown each had RBI singles in the frame. They extended their lead to 3-0 with an unearned run in the second inning.
The Tritons, seeded sixth, strung some hits together in the second inning scoring two runs on four hits.
Noah Tomaras and
LJ Randle each had RBI singles in the frame to cut the deficit to 3-2.
UIndy got one of those runs back in the third as Brayton Bowen hit a solo home run to right center.

Owen Faith in the third to make it 4-3. The Tritons scored three times in the fourth as Randle brought home his second run of the game with a single to right and Faith hit a two-run single to right to make it 6-4.
Bowen drove in his third run of the contest with a double down the right field line in the fifth to pull the Hounds within 6-5.
Eathan Landis countered with an RBI single in the fifth scoring
Justin Simard to give UMSL its two-run lead back.
UIndy got a solo home run from Nathan Jessup and a two-run blast from Chase Mason in the sixth to retake the lead at 8-7.
The Tritons tied it in the seventh on an RBI single to center from Simard scoring Faith and had a chance to retake the lead with runners at second and third and no out but couldn't get the hit to bring the runs home.
Neither side scored in the eighth or ninth innings but the Greyhounds broke the deadlock scoring six runs on three hits and an error in the 10th inning.
UMSL rallied in the home half of the inning getting four hits and a walk after the first man was retired to score three runs.
Justin Terhaar and
Mitch Bonczkowski had run scoring hits in the frame. The Tritons had the tying run at the plate with one out but back-to-back fly outs ended the game.
UMSL outhit UIndy 19-14 in the contest but committed the game's only two errors. Landis led the way with four hits while Simard added three and Randle, Bonczkowski, Faith and Cagle had two hits each.
Brandon Johnson threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief until the Hounds broke through in the 10th. He took the loss giving up six runs, four earned, on three hits with two strikeouts to fall to 3-3.
The Tritons finished the season with a record of 34-22. It's the most wins in a season for UMSL since winning 39 in 2003. The Tritons also won their second conference title and made their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2003.
