St. Louis – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team had its two-match unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-0 loss to Drury on Saturday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons are 2-2-1, 1-1-1 GLVC while the Panthers move to 5-1, 3-0 in the GLVC.
UMSL controlled play for the first 30 minutes but couldn't get anything past Ben Barnett.
Drury broke the scoreless deadlock in the 34th minute as Steen Voller sent a pass across the top of the penalty area to Eyal Kibrik. Kibrik found Parker Jusseaume making a run through the box and he slotted a shot past
Lucas Ortiz for his third goal of the season.
The Tritons held a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes including 2-1 in shots on goal.
Drury looked to extend its lead early in the second half but two big saves by Ortiz kept it a one-goal deficit.
UMSL had an opportunity in the 62nd minute off a corner kick but
Max Matviyiv's shot was blocked and then four minutes later
Benjamin Ocampo had a shot that was blocked.
After the hydration break the Panthers extended their lead as Voller stole the ball from
Connor Randel dribbled about 15 yards into the top of the box and fired a shot past Ortiz for his second goal of the season.
Drury finished the game outshooting the Tritons 14-10 including 8-2 in shots on goal.
UMSL heads to Indianapolis on Wednesday (Sept. 16) to take on the UIndy Greyhounds at 4 p.m. (CDT).
