Indianapolis-The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team fell 2-0 to UIndy after a rain delay on Wednesday evening at Key Stadium in Indianapolis. The loss drops the Tritons to 2-3-1, and 1-2-1 GLVC while the Greyhounds improve to 3-2-2, 2-1-1 GLVC.
UIndy scored early after the re-start due to lightning. In the 21
st minute, Joey Longo found himself in space and chipped it into the back of the net off an assist from Alejandro Zuniga to make it 1-0.
The Greyhounds added another in the 52
nd minute when Shayne Abrams took advantage of another assist by Zuniga to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Tritons had three shots on goal and nine shots total.
Max Matviyiv,
Gibson Hunt, and
Isaac Valverde combined for the three shots on net. Four UMSL players led the team with two shots apiece.
Lucas Ortiz made three saves in net.
The Tritons conclude their road trip next Wednesday (Sept. 23) against Lewis at 7:30 p.m. at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill.
