Lexington, Ky. – University of Missouri-St. Louis right side hitter Alayna Santel was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II National Player of the Week on Tuesday. It's the second time in her career she's received the accolade.

Santel also received the award at the end of the regular season last year and it's the fourth time in program history that UMSL has had a player earn the honor. Kaileen Herman received the honor in the Spring 2021 season while Santel and Iyannah Jackson earned it last year.

Santel was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 7.29 points and 5.57 kills per set while hitting .507 in seven sets played. She had a career-high 28 kills in the come from behind win over Drury on Saturday and had a career-high seven aces against Southwest Baptist on Friday evening.

The Tritons are back in action this Friday traveling to Quincy, Ill., to take on the Hawks at 6 p.m. at Pepsi Arena.
