Jay Barron enters his eighth season as an assistant baseball coach in 2016-17, where he has helped coach the Tritons to five straight winning seasons.

A former two-year member of the program (2002-03), Barron started 52 games as a senior and earned second team all-GLVC honors after batting .309 and recording 56 hits, including a team-best nine homeruns, which ranks fifth on the single season charts. He also finished with 48 RBIs and scored 42 runs and was also named second team all-region. Additionally, Barron owns a school record for three homeruns hit in one game.

Barron helped lead UMSL to the 2003 GLVC championship and an NCAA Regional appearance.
