Landon Shipley is in his fourth season as an assistant men's basketball coach, including his third under head coach Bob Sundvold. He came to UMSL in May 2012 after spending one year as an assistant coach at Lake Land College.
Prior to his appointment at LLC, Shipley served as a graduate assistant at Austin Peay State University under the direction of Dave Loos.
Shipley played two seasons at Austin Peay before completing his collegiate career at Illinois State. During his career, he gained a reputation as an excellent shooter and savvy point guard, leading his teams to two conference championships and three NIT appearances, while earning all-conference playing honors.
Shipley is a 2010 graduate of Illinois State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He earned his master’s degree in health and human performance with a specialization in sports wellness from Austin Peay in 2011.
A St. Louis native, Shipley prepped at Lafayette High School where he was the 2005 St. Louis Post-Dispatch Metro Player of the Year and was a two-time Missouri Class 5 first team all-state selection. .
