Terry “TJ” Riggs is in his first season on the UMSL men’s basketball coaching staff.
Riggs began his coaching career at Bloomington (Ill.) High School as the head coach of the freshman boys team and doubled as the assistant coach for varsity as the lead of player development and scouting. He assisted in the playoff series for two years where the team placed third in the IHSA State 3A finals in 2017.
Riggs also coached AAU boys basketball for the Illinois Irish for two years; placing in multiple tournaments as the head coach. He was fortunate to help develop numerous student-athletes in their pursuit of a collegiate career and education.
Riggs has since started his journey to become a collegiate coach through assisting with Stanford University's Men's basketball camp for two years and University of North Carolina's Men's basketball camp for one year to help advance his basketball IQ by learning from several experienced coaches.
TJ and his wife Vanessa have a two-year-old daughter Zani.
