Chase Smith enters his first season as an assistant coach, following a playing career for the Tritons.
Smith played two seasons (2011-13) for head coach Troy Halterman after spending two seasons at Vincennes University.
As a senior at UMSL last year, Smith earned All-GLVC playing honors, while helping to lead the team to a tie for ffith place at the NCAA Championship, the program's best finish. He owned a scoring average of 76.22 and graduates with a career average of 77.23, which ranks seventh all-time.
He earned all-conference honors for his third place finish at the league's annual championship. Smith shot a three-round score of 217, which is the fifth best 54-hole performance in program history.
A native of Salem, Ill., Smith is completing his business degree from UMSL.
