COACHING EXPERIENCE
  • Enters 22nd season as the Tritons’ head coach in the Fall of 2022, where he is the fourth head coach in program history
  • Owns a record of 162-170-38 (.489) while at UMSL
  • Prior to his appointment at UMSL, served as the head coach at Valley Community College for three years
  • Coaching career began at his alma mater, Indiana University, where he served as an assistant for legendary head coach Jerry Yeagley from 1984-1986

COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Teams have qualified for 11 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournaments, including the 2021 team, which made it's second straight appearance in the tournament.
  • 2016 team posted a 10-7-1 record, in which the program jumped out to a 10-3-1 start and earned the program’s first national ranking since 1992, debuting at No. 18 in the NCAA DII Top 25 Poll.
  • Led to a 12-4-2 mark during the 2014 campaign, tying the most wins in his previous 13 years. The Tritons also set a mark for wins, finishing 11-3-1 in league play and finishing third in the conference standings. Then junio Jon earned , Inc., Honorable Mention All-American honors, the first player to do since 1994.
  • During the 2013 season, King directed the Tritons to their fifth straight winning season with a 9-7-2 record, including an 8-5-2 mark in the . Among the team's victories was a 2-1 victory at then No. 8 ranked . also finished the regular season on a seven-game unbeaten streak.
  • The 2012 team posted a 12-7-1 record and advanced all the way to the Tournament championship, coming up just short in a 2-1 loss to host . It was the program’s best finish since the 1996 team went 12-7-2. Additionally, the team posted a 3-2-1 record against ranked opponents; including a 1-0 overtime win at home over then No. 5 .
  • In 2010, the squad finished with a 9-6-2 record, which included defeating nationally ranked Northern Kentucky at home before the Norse went on to win the NCAA Division II national championship.
  • After a three-year drought in postseason play, King directed the 2009 squad to the league’s tournament for the first time since 2006. The Tritons recorded a 2-1 victory at No. 12 ranked Northern Kentucky in the regular season finale to garner the bid. lost a 1-0 double overtime verdict at top-seeded and No. 4 nationally ranked Drury in the first round to end the season with a 9-7-2 record, which included a 7-5-2 mark.
  • During the 2006 season, King directed the squad to a 9-7-2 record, the most wins for the team since the 2002 season. The nine wins that season matched his best record since coming to in 2001. The Tritons also reached the first round of the Tournament during the 2006 season.
  • King also recorded nine wins in 2002, guiding to a 9-7-2 record and a berth in the league tourney. For his efforts, he was named Coach of the Year.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE
  • Collegiate student-athlete at Indiana University from 1981-84 where he played for Coach Jerry Yeagley.
  • While with the Hoosiers, he helped the team advance to the national championship game each of his four years. King was a member of the back-to-back national championship teams in 1982 and 1983, the first two of the seven national titles in the school's history. In addition, the team finished runner-ups in the national title game in both 1981 and 1984.
  • During that time period, the Hoosiers set an NCAA record that still stands with a 46-game unbeaten streak from 1983 through 1984.
  • In the 1983 season, King earned Big Ten MVP honors, and in high school he was a Parade High School All-American in 1979 and a member of the Junior National Soccer Team in 1978.
EDUCATION
  • Graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education.
PERSONAL
King and his wife, Rhea, have two daughters and live in Florissant, Mo.
