Diego Abreu is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the men's and women's tennis programs.

Diego comes to UMSL following a two-year career at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he was a captain as a senior and played at No. 1 doubles. He also earned ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. As a junior, he posted a 16-4 record in dual match singles play, finishing with an impressive 7-0 record at the third spot and an 8-4 mark at the fourth spot. He also posted a 9-8 record in dual match doubles play at No. 1.

Diego began his collegiate career at Laredo Community College, where he was a member of 2007 NJCAA national championship. He also played at No. 3 doubles and finished in the semifinals at the NJCAA national tournament.

Diego then spent one season at Seward Community College, where he played at No. 1 singles, posting a 6-10 record.

Diego prepped at C.E.T.E.B. and in 2006 received a No. 84 ranking in the advanced level of competition in Brazil. In his junior season, he received a No. 9 ranking in 2004 and was tabbed No. 15 in the Brazil junior rankings in 2005.

He earned his A.A.S. in business management from Seward County CC and his B.S. in international business from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is currently pursing his masters degree at UMSL.
