COACHING EXPERIENCE
  • Enters his 10th season with the women’s golf program after being named Director of Golf Operations in 2016.
  • Will also begin his 16th year overseeing the Tritons’ men’s golf program.
  • In 1998, began working as a club professional. He has spent time in Hilton Head Island, S.C. and Kansas City. In the Kansas City area he was assistant professional at Wolf Creek Golf Club and Kansas City Country Club. He spent 2007-08 as the Head Professional at Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City.
COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Directed UMSL to seven NCAA East Regional bids and to three straight appearances in the NCAA DII Championships (2017-19).
  • 2018 team recorded a program-best sixth place finish at the championships.
  • Six GLVC Tournament runner-up finishes
  • 18 team titles
  • 2018 team set a school record for scoring average (305.19) for the second straight year behind 10 top-10 finishes.
  • In his second season guiding the women in 2017, the Tritons earned an eighth place finish nationally, while making the program’s first ever NCAA DII Championships appearance.
  • Wilma Zanderau earned the highest finish in program history tying for fourth at the 2023 NCAA DII Championships at Fox Run Golf Club.
ATHLETE HONORS
  • Emma Thorngren became the program’s first-ever All-American in 2017 and became a four-time pick in 2021 by earning first team honors for the second straight year.
  • Tove Brunell and Wilma Zanderau became the program's second and third All-Americans in 2023. Brunell was a first team All-American while Zanderau earned honorable mention distinction.
  • 19 All-GLVC honors
  • 2 GLVC Player of the Year honor in Emma Thorngren (2021) and Tove Brunell (2023)
  • 3 GLVC Freshman of the Year honor in Linn Thornqvist (2021), Tove Brunell (2022) and Wilma Zanderau (2023)
  • 11 All-Region honors
PLAYING EXPERIENCE
  • Played collegiately at Oklahoma State from 1991-1993 and at Kansas State from 1993-1996.
  • While playing at Oklahoma State, he had the opportunity to learn from legendary golf coach, Mike Holder, who has won 10 NCAA Championships.
  • At Kansas State, was a First Team All-Big 8 selection and twice was named an All-American Scholar. He was also a three-time Academic All-Big 8 honoree.
  • Spent 12 years in competitive golf, where he had an accomplished professional career. After graduating college, he played professionally on the Prairie Tour, Hooters Tour and Golden Bear Tour. He also played in the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.
  • Since becoming a PGA professional in 2001 he continued to compete in PGA sectional tournaments in both the Midwest and Gateway sections. He qualified for five National PGA Assistant Professional Championships and two National PGA Club Professional Championships.
  • During his time as a club professional, won numerous section and national PGA events. He was awarded the 2007 Presidents Plaque by the Midwest Section PGA for his contributions to player development and growth of the game.
  • He regained his amateur status in May 2013.
EDUCATION
  • Graduated from Kansas State in 1995 with a bachelor of science in journalism.
PERSONAL
  • Troy and his wife Gail have two children, Will and Nick.
