ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team will open 2013 GLVC Tournament play at Rockhurst on Sunday in one of four quarterfinal round games. The Tritons earned the league's No.5 seed with an 8-5-2 GLVC mark, while Rockhurst is the No. 4 seed, finishing conference play at 11-2-2.
The game will be a rematch of the Tritons' 2-1 upset victory over then-No. 8 Rockhurst on Oct. 13 in Kansas City.
UMSL enters the contest on a seven-game unbeaten streak. Sophomore
Jon Huelsman leads the Tritons with 13 points on six goals and one assist, while senior
Matt Burrus (four goals, one assist) and sophomore
Nick Cherry (three goals, three assists) each have nine points. Junior
Nick Lenkman has started the last nine games in goal, where he is 7-1-2 and has allowed just seven goals for a goals against average of 0.67.
The Tritons advanced to the GLVC Tournament championship game last year, falling 2-1 at Rockhurst.
Quincy earned the top-seed in this year's tournament and will host No. 8 seed Missouri S&T. Other quarterfinal round contests include No. 7 Bellarmine at No. 2 Indianapolis and No. 6 Drury at No. 3 Lewis.
Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance in the GLVC Championship Tournament, which will be hosted by the highest-seeded semifinalist on Friday, Nov. 8. Two semifinal contests will be played Friday at times to be determined, while the 2013 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place Sunday, Nov. 10.
