Baseball Edged in 14 Innings by Wayne State

WINTER HAVEN, FLA. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost a 3-2 14-inning battle to Wayne State (Neb.) on Friday afternoon in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
 
The Wildcats scored the game winner on a bases loaded two-out walk. After Brett Keim tripled with one out, the Tritons intentionally walked two batters following a strikeout by Tanner Lancaster to load the bases for Michael Herman.

UMSL tallied 10 hits and scored the game's first run in the second inning on an RBI single from junior Tyler Bunge. The Wildcats tied it in the fifth. UMSL led 12 runners on base, while Wayne State left 15 stranded.
 
Junior Paul Richmond tallied three hits for the Tritons, going 3-for-5 at the plate, while senior Charlie Mohr tallied two hits, including a double.
 
Senior reliever Kyle Renaud took the loss on the mound, working six and two-thirds of an inning. He allowed just one run on three hits, while striking out five and walking five. Senior Andy Flett got the start, allowing eight hits in six and two-thirds of an inning, while striking out six.

UMSL (2-3) returns to action tomorrow at 3 p.m. (EST) in a doubleheader against Ashland. The Tritons lost an 11-2 decision last Sunday to the Eagles in their season opener.
