Huelsman’s Penalty Kick Gives Men’s Soccer 1-0 Win Over Lewis

CREVE COEUR, MO. – Junior Jon Huelsman successfully converted a penalty kick attempt to give the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Lewis on Friday night in a key Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
 
Huelsman's goal came at the 61:43 mark after junior Tyler Collico was tackled in the box on a breakaway. It was his team-leading fifth score of the season and pushes UMSL to 8-2-1 overall, including 7-2 in the GLVC. Lewis slips to 6-3-2 and 5-2-2 in the league. The Tritons and Flyers entered the game in a four-way tie for second place in the conference standings.
 
Lewis outshot UMSL, 11-8, while both teams placed four shots on goal. Huelsman accounted for all four of the Tritons' shots on goal, while Collico fired two shots.
 
Senior Nick Lenkman picked up his fourth shutout of the season, while recording three saves.
 
UMSL is back in action on Sunday, hosting Wisconsin-Parkside at 2:30 p.m.
