INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Despite a career-best 11 kills off the bench from freshman
Gina Pezze, the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team came up short in a 25-19, 25-13, 24-26, 26-24 loss at Great Lakes Valley Conference co-East Division leader Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.
Senior
Haley Brightwell added 10 kills and 12 digs for the Tritons, which slip to 12-8 overall, including 7-5 in the GLVC. UIndy improves to 13-8 and 10-2 in the league.
After being held to nine kills in each of the first two set losses, UMSL tallied 16 in the set three victory, while hitting .234. Pezze and sophomore
Jory Siebenmorgen each recorded five kills in that frame.
Pezze then added six kills in the fourth set, which saw 15 ties and seven lead changes. UMSL raced out to a quick 6-1 lead, but saw UIndy charge back to knot the score at 9-9. Neither team then led by more than two points. Kills by Siebenmorgen and Pezze gave the Tritons a 23-22 lead before the Greyhounds scored four of the final five points.
The Tritons hit .113 as a team, led by Pezze's .348 percentage, while the Greyhounds attacked at a .245 clip. Both teams finished with nine blocks. Junior
Hannah Miller tallied five for UMSL, while also finishing with seven kills, while Siebenmogen recorded eight.

Lindsay Meyer dished out 42 assists, while senior
Emily Bragaw finished with 14 digs.
UMSL will wrap up a seven-game road trip tomorrow at Saint Joseph's.
