ROLLA, MO. – Junior
Jon Huelsman scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist, to lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to a 3-2 overtime win at Missouri S&T on Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Huelsman connected for the game-winner three minutes and 24 seconds into the extra frame, shooting from close range after feeds from juniors
Tyler Collico and
Chris Pearson.
UMSL improves to 7-1-1 overall, including 6-1 in the GLVC and took over sole possession of second place in the league standings after league leader Quincy defeated Rockhurst, 1-0, tonight. Missouri S&T slips to 3-5-1 and 2-4-1 in the league.
The visiting Tritons were forced to answer back twice before the game-winner as Missouri S&T scored the first goal before later taking a 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless first half in which Missouri S&T owned a 5-3 advantage in shots, both teams got on the board in a four-minute span early in the second half. The Miners struck at the 47:15 mark, while Huelsman netted his first goal of the game four minutes later with a shot from 10 yards out off a pass to the front from Collico
. Missouri S&T made it 2-1 in the 61
st minute before Collico scored a goal of his own with a shot from the top of the box into the upper right corner with Huelsman assisting on the play.
Huelsman fired five shots, landing three on goal, while UMSL finished with 10 attempts as a team, placing six on target. Missouri S&T took 12 shots, landing six on goal.

Nick Lenkman played all 93:24 in between the posts, allowing both Miner goals and recording four saves.
